At some point before the events of this story, Doug Ramsey obtains an entry code to the Shaw Industries computer network. He shares the code with Kitty Pryde.
Xavier's School: Amara is inducted into the New Mutants. She seeks refuge in the mansion grounds following an incident with Sam.
Salem Centre: Kitty Pryde and Doug Ramsey hack into Project Wideawake's computer systems.
Project Wideawake HQ: Henry Peter Gyrich and Sebastian Shaw guide Valerie Cooper through the Wideawake installation. Kitty and Ramsey lock the Wideawake personnel out of the project computer system and activate a Sentinel, necessitating that Henry Gyrich cause the robot to self-destruct.
Salem Centre: Kitty and Doug part company. Charles telepathically summons Kitty to the X-Mansion.
Xavier's School: Amara rebuffs Kitty, who is met with hostility by the other New Mutants. Charles admonishes Kitty. The Shadow King scans his mind. The next day, Rahne incautiously displays her mutant power during Stevie's dance class. Amara is officially designated as Magma. She refuses that Charles should telepathically guide her in the Danger Room. Later, she witnesses Lilandra's final transmission to Charles and reconciles with the professor.
NOTES: Amara has a maid called Dione. First appearance of Douglas Ramsey. Roberto has long been proficient in computers. Charles Xavier fell out of love with Moira MacTaggert during his military service.
