Limbo: Kitty Pryde deploys Illyana Rasptun's soulsword against its mistress. Illyana is restored to her human form. She returns with her companions to Los Angeles.
Los Angeles, California: Rachel Summers tracks the Gladiators to a Hollywood mansion. Alison Blaire enters and is welcomed by Max Rocker and Ivich. The Beyonder erects a psionic screen; Kitty is forced to infiltrate the mansion. Roberto da Costa and Amara Aquilla spurn Alison, who falls under the influence of Xi'an Coy Manh. Rachel establishes psionic rapport with the Beyonder. While leading Roberto and Amara to safety, Kitty seeks out Alison. Xi'an plays her hand. She places Kitty in a robotic shell and pits her against Roberto and Amara in the Arena.
NOTES: Illyana Rasputin is 15. Her soulsword can cut Kitty Pryde. As the Darkchilde, Illyana's soulsword is black. The capital set aside for Sam Guthrie's first car was spent on his father's medical bills. Rachel Summers compares the Beyonder to Dark Phoenix.
