At some point before the events of this story, Marcus Domitius Gallio takes charge of Amara and the New Mutants. Castro is captured and made Selene's prisoner. Nina is recovered from the Amazon. She enters Lucius Antonius Aquilla's household.
Nova Roma, Brazil: Amara and the New Mutants are imprisoned. Amara takes the team into her confidence. Dani inadvertantly manifests the girl's fear of Selene. In the senatorial baths, Lucius Antonius Aquilla confronts Marcus Domitius concerning the captives. Castro bargains with Marcus Domitius. Dani and Rahne are made ready to attend the gladiatorial games. Amara is captured by Selene. Sam and Roberto take part in the games at noon of the next day. Marcus Domitius declares Rahne as the heir of both Julius Caesar and the she-wolf of Rome.
NOTES: First appearance of Selene. Lucius Antonius sent Amara sent into the Amazon an unspecified number of years ago to protect her from Selene. Selene is of Incan descent.
