Into the Abyss

Muir Island, Scotland: Charles Xavier and Dani Moonstar enter David Haller's psyche and are trapped. Charles learns that he is David's father. David absorbs Gabrielle Haller and Doug Ramsey.

David's Mindscape: Jemail Karami attempts to impart a warning to Charles. Dani, Doug, and Gabrielle search for Rahne Sinclair and Moira MacTaggert. Jack Wayne befriends Charles and relates the history of the black dome. Gabrielle drives away Jemail. Moira and Rahne befriend Cyndi. They join Dani, Doug, and Gabrielle at the mindscape Eiffel Tower. Gabrielle discloses the Paris assassination attempt to her companions. Charles and Jack reach the black dome and prepare to confront Jemail.

NOTES: Charles Xavier and Moira MacTaggert were parted for ten years after he entered for military service. David Haller manifests a different personality for each of his three mutant powers (telepathy, telekinesis, and pyrokinesis). His mindscape is equal parts Paris and Beirut. According to Gabrielle Haller, David was the sole survivor of a "terrorist ambush" in Paris--presumably the trauma that induced his catatonia. She identifies Jemail Karami as the terrorist leader. Moira MacTaggert reasons that, unlike Jack and Cyndi, Jemail is an absorbed consciousness at play in David's mind. Jack Wayne states that Gabrielle was not present at the ambush. Rather, David was in the company of his godfather Dan Shomron, who was "cut [...] in half with an AK-47".
