At some point before the events of this story, Moira MacTaggert returns to Muir Island. She relates the story of Kevin MacTaggert to Gabrielle Haller.

Muir Island, Scotland: David Haller renders Tom Corsi and Sharon Friedlander catatonic. Moira MacTaggert and Jami Madrox place Tom and Sharon in the island medical facility. Moira contacts Charles Xavier, who arrives in company with the New Mutants the next day. Charles is reunited with Gabrielle Haller. David is introduced as Gabrielle's son and one of Moira's patients.

Massachusetts: Emma Frost places psychic inhibitors on Manuel de la Rocha.

Ullapool, Scotland: Reverend Craig cajoles Rahne.

Muir Island, Scotland: Charles attempts to enter David Haller's psyche. He detects an alien presence and is repulsed.

Bermuda: Lee Forrester wakes Erik Lehnsherr from a nightmare. They make love.

Muir Island, Scotland: Rahne seeks comfort from Moira. David absorbs their conscious selves.

NOTES: In his new body, Tom Corsi can lift close to 1,000 lbs. First appearance of David Haller. Warlock continues to mistake simple machines for sapient beings. Doug Ramsey remarks that the adventure with Lila Cheney took place in summer. David was diagnosed autistic at age 10. Emma Frost is descended from New England aristocracy, who "fought in the Revolution and sailed clipper ships to the far corners of the Earth". Warlock can impart energy as well as consume it. Charles is still recovering from the injuries dealt him in Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 #193. His affair with Gabrielle Haller took place while she was his patient. Rahne addresses Moira as her mother for the first time.

This story takes place after both Uncanny X-Men Vol 1 #192-3 and Firestar Vol 1.
